Another day off from school and up comes the question, "What are we going to do today?" We decided to check out a little spot in Alamo Heights at Brackenridge Park called The Japanese Tea Gardens.
According to CitySearch: "The gardens were once a rock quarry, and the limestone mined here was carted to Austin to create the capitol building. Koi glide past lily pads in emerald ponds; waterfalls cascade down foliage-covered cliffs; a massive stone pagoda provides a panoramic view of the entire spread. The sound of falling water and a tranquil air marks these year-round gardens, and colorful blooms can be seen in the spring." Couldn't have said it better myself!
We were so excited to find this little gem just miles from our house, and even more excited at how great our photos turned out. It was a beautiful day!

We finished our little field trip with a ride around the park on the train.
We ended the day hanging out with The Gang until dark...fun times!

Looking down on the gardens from above - which is why they are also referred to as the "Sunken Gardens."Just as we were about to break out our tea cups and get our Zen on, the tour of the garden conveniently ended near the entrance to the San Antonio Zoo. We had some time to kill, so we went in.
